Hello Everyone

I am so sorry that I have not contributed for a while. I was admitted to one of the London hospitals with pneumonia and a deterioration in my neurological condition. My spell in hospital gave me time to muse  on much of what Elisabeth has written. At times I was deeply dependent on the care of the nursing staff. Some were exceptionally kind and helped me tremendously, others didn't give a damn when I rang the request for a nurse bell. The communication between them was dreadful. It made me look forward to when I may be admitted to hospital or a hospice when my neurological illness becomes hopeless. Well it is hopeless now but I still have time, this time will run out and I will be heading for death only.  The lack of communication that I wrote of was that a number of nurses thought I just had pneumonia. In fact they were unaware of my terminal neurological illness. I went through a period of profound diarrohea caused by the antibiotics I was given. I thought I would end up living in the lavatory !  :-)  When I asked one nurse for help to get up from the lavatory he said "What did your last servant die of" I calmly explained my situation. He relentd and helped me to clean myself and to put on a new pad. When I got into bed I was so exhausted that I could only cry. I must have cried for over an hour. I felt saved by a lady who would ask people if they would like her to wash them. She washed me from face to toes. I felt so much better. This lady was lovely and I thought "If you could be one of my carers as I am dying I would be eternally grateful"  I wanted to write this as I feel so many people are left in this position and treated so badly.

Love

Gerald
