About the Foundation

The EKR Foundation is a non-profit organization inspired by the life of psychiatrist, humanitarian, and hospice pioneer Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. It’s in the spirit of embracing all of life — which includes death — that we further her mission and vision through collaborations, education, and advocacy.

“The five stages – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance – are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one(s) we lost. They are tools to help us frame and identify what we may be feeling. But they are not stops on some linear timeline in grief.”

— Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
