She later became part of the opening team of JW Marriott Quito as Banquets and Events Manager, and Task Force at Los Sueños Marriott in Costa Rica. Back in Ecuador, she worked as Hotel Manager on board of the M/S Polaris, M/S Islander, and M/S Endeavour in Galapagos, all Lindblad Expeditions ships. She was General Manager at Buena Vista Country Club in Quito, and General Manager of South Expeditions, a tour operator for Ecuador, Galapagos, and Chile. Sofia has an MBA and other certifications in Hotel Management.

For many years Sofia started searching for her mission in life and found it first as a grief coach (certified by The Creative Grief Studio in 2016) and as an end-of-life doula certified by Deanna Flores Cochran and Quality of Life Care School of Accompanying the Dying in 2017. Since then, Sofia quit her job and became a full-time Doula and grief therapist. She has been certified by the Thanatology Institute of Mexico, by David Kessler as Grief Educator, and by Jane Duncan Rogers as a facilitator of the BIG (Before I Go) method for end-of-life planning.

Sofia has been a Hospice volunteer in Quito for the last six years and has been working with families and patients at the end of life. She loves the creation of rituals and wants to focus on education and spreading the word to change our relationship with death and grief.
